GSC made a decision to not sell the game in Russia considering they attacked their home country. It is also a large part of why they were targeted by Russian hackers. Seems weird to ban a game that isn’t allowed to be purchased (I’m aware there is likely going to be ways around it) but to me it just shows how scared Russia is of it potentially doing well. The game doesnt even NEED anti-russian sentiments, its existence IS one.

Russia, such a superpower that it’s scared of a video game.

IIRC they removed the Russian VO and changed the English name’s spelling from Chernobyl, based on the Russian spelling, to Chornobyl

Yeah, weren’t the bad guys in the original games Russian?

I could have sworn the hostile scavenger type of characters were Russians, I guess I understood that incorrectly. Its been at least 10 years since I played the originals, so maybe I just misremembered it.

GSC is Ukrainian, not a Russian enterprise

Ya’ll missed the point. The government is reviewing the game for anti-russian sentiments. Thats our future.

The way you worded your comment made it sound like you were saying GSC is a Russian industry.

Dont really see that, since any game is subject to this when being sold in any country regardless of who made it.
