Okay, but like. Long term planning is a thing. The long term is in fact something you need to consider in the present, especially for an action that you might only have a limited window to undertake

I’ve been trying to explain that to my mother, who doesn’t want us leaving. She’s Jewish. She should know better, but she thinks we’re overreacting. Our daughter is queer, so we don’t think we are. I said to her, Kristalnacht didn’t happen on day one, but by the time it happened, it was too late.

Trump will be using the justice department and IRS to attack his enemies, and by the time people realize what is happening, it will be difficult to go back
It’s not the Justice or IRS or even FBI/CIA I worry about. Trump said somewhere that he’d have no problem using the US Military against Americans. He probably already has a plan to replace all the generals who might have a conscience or be loyal to the consititution (and not him).
Racists and other scumbags see this as an absolute win.

Like 3 years iirc. Though they started getting quite within a couple months and by a year in few people were defending it already.

Sounds like wishful thinking, but I certainly hope so. I hope people there can’t get the services they need because the rednecks don’t want you do the jobs the Haitians were doing.

I can believe it, and I really do hope it has an impact. After this election, I’m doubly pessimistic about progressive outcomes.
Maybe the Haitians’ employers in Springfield should have campaigned harder against Trump.
Or maybe even Ohio politicians in their state’s economic interest?
But no…
