Can you chill please? Any positive press that are getting people off Twitter is good for society and all of us Lemmings by vicarity. Imma start replying to everyone commenting similarly cuz that is more bothersome to me than seeing Bluesky stuff everywhere. Its having its moment, take a break my dude. Use your apps filters or get Voyager and punch in Bluesky or Blue Sky

It’s an alternative to Twitter in the same way Pepsi is an alternative to Coke, it’s still essentially the same thing. This is just trading one really shitty corporation for a different not as shitty yet corporation. As it grows it will eventually become the exact same thing and everyone will be back here celebrating the rise of some other corporate social-media network.

It’s kind of not. It does appear to be at least theoretically possible to self-host any or all of the major components. Unlike ActivityPub projects, however, it doesn’t seem like anybody is doing that and offering services to the public.

Yeah too bad they didn’t get into it earlier, but it has hit a critical mass of users and attention lately.

I’ve been tempted to give Bluesky another go after it left beta, but apparently you still can’t set up feeds so they all show up in one instead of having to swipe through all of them.

It felt too much like work keeping up with things, so I gave up.
