Major Australian retailer (bunnings) got caught using AI on us all in secret, and told to shut that shit down, and delete our data.

They have a whole year to delete our (and our kids) photos.

No fine. No slap on wrist.

UK here. We just switched to a Labour government a few months ago and it turns out that the previous Conservative government blew a £22 billion hole in the economy and didn’t tell anyone, so now the new government have to deal with it by raising taxes which is pissing everybody off.

In particular, they’re changing the way inheritance tax works which is screwing over farmers, so they’re now doing mass protests.

Agree, it’s a bit unfair that people are blaming Labour for trying to sort things out. The mini budget from the previous government a year before is estimated to have cost the UK £30bn alone in two weeks.

    UK:

    • Snowing in some parts of the country. First time this year. Historically we lose our shit when it snows. (England and Wales at least, Scotland are pretty good at dealing with it)
    • Farmers upset at a recent budget where they get taxed on death duties above £1m if they didn’t transfer property to their kids early enough. (The French farmers are also protesting, but for different reasons)
    • Quite a few small businesses going bankrupt because of the same budget. (Especially motorbike retailers who’ve suffered some other problems)
    • Ukraine fired a UK-supplied missile into Russia. We’re kinda worried about repercussions, but why did we give it to the them if it wasn’t meant to be used?
    • Sex allegations about Al Fayed, the now deceased boss of Harrods. “As bad as Savile”

    Pretty much a normal Wednesday.

Brazil, a nation that 20 years ago that was quite civilized and relaxed in terms of politics and people were a bit more united. Now is all about sides and grumpy irrational actions and talks. This seems like some sickness. I wonder if this will pass some day. I thought that this was something that other nations were envy about it. I guess we lost our charm.

    India

Manipur seems to be still burning.
There seems to be ‘understanding’ with China on border issues

If you were asking about election news, the RW party, got a 3rd term and is 6 months in. They did lose seats and had to form a coalition govt. So their plans to rewrite the constitution seem to be on a hold.
