Musk is doing a great job of showing everyone exactly why no one should be able to have that much money.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

Elon is my favourite billionaire since he makes people realize that there shouldn’t be any billionaires.

Keep going! You’re in lex Luther territory now.

I’m not saying anyone should be executed for using their extravagant wealth built off of slavery to manipulate politics, control the economy, oppress the poor, and target minority groups—but I would certainly watch events unfold with great interest

Oh man, that’s hilarious. Almost as funny as that time he joked about buying Twitter; can you imagine if that happened?

For what it’s worth, he tried his damndest to get out of buying Twitter. I’m sure he wants people to forget that part.

It’s almost as if he knew it wasn’t worth $44Billion.

But, it did buy the presidency, along with a dearth of misinformation, so it’s served its purpose I suppose.

That’s true, but casually joking about buying companies when you basically did that (albeit with enough details to not be taken as a joke) is so monumentally dumb. Even for musk. Dude really has not learned to shutup yet.

I mean buying twitter at a massive premium was a consequence. Although yeah, he just pooled together other people to pay for it :/.

It was an inconvenience to be sure, he has a metric f*** ton of money but it’s not liquid assets. He got a lot of people to come in and fund it and then took loans against a small amount of his Tesla stock.

Realistically though it didn’t put him in any serious trouble, any ended up with a propaganda media company.

What are you basing that on? I lost a ton of followers when they started deleting bot acconts and the steady flow of around 4 new bot followers each day has died down as well. Maybe your experience has been different but if you’re not even on Twitter, I wonder how you would know.

Jokes aside, I made that account because I wanted to try how Lemmy would be like if I cleared my 1000 users long blocklist (that you were on too) and instead try using word filters to filter out individual toxic messages rather than blocking the whole user just because one of their messages grinded my gears.

On a side note. I went thru your post history a little and saw you defending southeners against the generalizations made about them and though you were being quite reasonable there, and probably heavily downvoted for it as is the case with Lemmy. This is exactly why I wanted to try alternative methods to blocking - it’s just too blunt of a tool.

Oh, I’m not worried, any day now the democrats will miraculously put guys like musk in their place. Despite being on the losing end of every political skirmish for the last 50 years and their incessant need to cozy up to oligarchs like him.

Nothing to worry about here because we’re going to “resist” and “fight” by giving all our political goodwill to a party that will turn it into nothing by losing to 21st century fascists.

Now your job is to behave like a good citizen and obey the law, wile USA is turned into a fascist dictatorship.

What’s that, dems still hold the reins of power? Great news right! They will implement protections and codify norms, in these final moments, to put safeguards in place against a fascist take over. I mean they could of done it when they slightly held all three branches but they were super busy with other stuff. They can do it now, for sure right?

He won’t buy it with his money. He’ll buy with our money. DOGE not being an official department and mostly being a independent contractor means they don’t have to have the same level of accountability for funds that the Government has (or in the Pentagon’s case should have, but nobody in Congress seems to have a spine about stopping the flow of funds until a successful audit happens).

When they talk about shrinking the Government, they aren’t talking about getting rid of services, they’re talking about privatizing the services. Everyone who keeps thinking “Oh shits going crash if they do that” is forgetting, they’ll just turn those services over to private companies that receive tax dollars for providing that service to the public.
