Experiencing a bug where after a certain amount of messages, the AI character chat stops working with this message, it also shows a “This page has errors” message. Once this happens, I can’t export or import. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?

Are you having multiple characters in one thread and having them reply to each other? Can you open the Dev Tools (
F12
orCtrl+Shift+J
to open) then check the Console for errors?Hi, sorry about this. A couple of other users have reported similar problems. A few questions to help me track down the cause:
- Can you please wait until you get the error again, and then click the “feedback” button and type “i’m the person from lemmy” or something, and click submit? It’ll attach the function name and line number of the error so I can inspect the code.
- You mentioned it occurs after a certain amount of messages. Roughly how many? I don’t need an accurate number - like a few, or hundreds, or thousands?
- Is your device running low on storage space?
- Did your device crash recently?
- When you say “i can’t export or import” - do you see an error message? Or does nothing happen - i.e. just loading forever or something?
Please send me a numbered list of answers to those questions, and any other clues that you can think might be relevant, and I’ll do my best to fix this.

- It’s not always the same amount, but roughly after 30-45 (user) messages.
- Actually, yes. Which for extra information, it began happening on my mobile device about 1.1/2 months before my laptop, so maybe storage has something to do with it?
- No crashes.
- When I try to export, the same error message appears, when I try to import, just nothing happens. I noticed something last time the issue happened. My recent exports wouldn’t import, but one I made a few months back imported just fine.
Thanks! Useful info. Please ping me here when you do submit the feedback, and let me know what you said in your message so I can find it and check the debug info. With the error line numbers from the feedback submission I think I should be able to solve this.
And if there are any errors/problems you can replicate right now, then please do - e.g. if you can try importing on of your recent files that doesn’t work and then submit feedback, that would be useful.
