I have immich installed on two different Pixel phones, a 6a and a 7. It will not update photos in the background - only when it is open in the foreground. What’s going on with that?
I have automatic background backup on in the app, and allow background usage enabled for the app in the phone battery usage settings.
What am I missing?

Apparently I can’t read.
But I did have background apps close on me when my phone was low on RAM. Maybe that’s an issue.
Is there somewhere else in the phone settings that could be interfering?
I have the same issue on an S21. No answer for you, just solidarity.
If you tap on baxkground usage, not the toggle, for the app did you make it unrestricted?
