I made a joke about how Russia was a bit behind in video game tech in the 90’s and got banned, lol.

    Modlog.

You were banned for rule 2, which is no political content. If we want to be charitable, it’s possible that the mod considers talking about Russia’s lack of technological progress to be a political statement. I can’t imagine why somebody would be upset about that unless they had a hard-on for Russia, but surely that’s not the case when the moderator also decided to extend the ban to such politically neutral communities as “Anarchist memes”, “Socialism”, and “The Right Can’t Meme.”

What’s more insane is that you were banned from 20 communities in total, many of which aren’t even related. Fucking power mods…

… somebody would be upset about that unless they had a hard-on for Russia

      He clearly does.

Want to know the fun bit?

Davel refuses to answer whether he’s pro-Russian. Which he clearly is. He literally claims to be an American. An American who somehow happens to favour Russia, say things like “reality has a well known Russian propaganda bias” and “Ukraine needs to be denazified by Russia” and “Uighur genocide isn’t happening” (that last one is kinda 2019, but still.)

People like him are not an insignificant part of why Trump won.

Going through some of the communities you were banned in, Davel isn’t a mod in any of them that I checked. In fact, a lot of them only have a single mod, and it’s not even the same user.

I think you actually pissed off one of the .ml admins, and I’m willing to bet it’s the same one that’s both a self-proclaimed tankie, core Lemmy dev, and the only moderator of the socialism community on their instance. You were even instance banned for 7 days:

        Banned [email protected]
        reason: Rule 2
        expires: in 7 days

Notice the lack of community name in that entry. I thought the .ml admins learned something from the backlash last time they abused their position and banned people from communities they don’t moderate, but I can’t say I’m surprised that they’re going back to their old tricks.

This ban happened literally seconds or ar most a minute or two after leaving the comment. (edit2 now I actually feel heatenings from saying that as one can probably tell from the timestamps and it might just be it felt like seconds to me)

So either Davel is himself all those accounts, or he’s in some organised network of sorts.

They don’t like the fact that I actually challenge the Russian propaganda. Davel actually pretends to be an American. While saying things like “reality has a well known Russian propaganda bias” and “there are no Russian trolls on Lemmy”.

It’s literally organised Russian disinformation. And if you look at him and AntiOutsideAktion and the other propagandist mods and admins, a lot of the were really active in US political discussion, “you shouldn’t vote Harris, she supports genocide” sort of thing.

Most people will ignore this as too serious, but, yeah… it’s pretty serious, and I won’t stop calling out Russian bad actors online.

          Clearly, changes must be made.

How can we ban @[email protected] from accessing the mod logs?

Otherwise people will keep licking that boot of transparency, verified information, and freedom.

There’s one magic command for that:

            iptables -A input -s 0.0.0.0/0 -j DROP

Huh, weird how I still managed to post a comment on Lemmy.ml a few hours ago.

          https://lemmy.world/comment/13778521

The firefox lemmy.ml community. It’s just a matter of time before that comment is deleted though, and I get banned from that community as well, methinks.

Low opportunity power tripping is so common in russia, it has it’s own term “синдром вахтёра” (watchman’s syndrome). The .ml people go extra mile when cosplaying the mother russia.

This particular watchman pretends to be an American, by the way, but yeah, that’s exactly what he’s doing. Thanks for the term!

How thin skinned. Heck, I was buying 2600 stuff in 1996. It was retro by that point.

      Right?

Dude really got pissed. I remember getting some pirated games from Estonia in the 90’s and Estonia was halfway further to the West than Russia.

In 1996, the N64 was released. Unfortunately it took until the spring of 1997 for my dad to get us one. I fucking loved him for that. The most amazing suprise in my life. It wasn’t a christmas, a birthday, nothing. Dad just got us a N64 as a surprise. Fucking 3D gaming, flying around in Star Wars ships. It was AMAZING. RIP Dad

You should also crosspost this on [email protected] (include a screenshot of your modlog entries also) it’s a good community to discuss and share moderator or in this case admin power tripping. I’d say it’s probably one of the best ways to call attention to this type of crap.

I just smoked wake&bake and now I’ve read this, I hope I don’t forget to after I wake up from my second sleep. I’ll actually de-read the notification, I think.

Just replying again to remind you to check up on it when you’re sober. I think it would be beneficial for you and other people in that situation to post about your experience with .ml in the community I mentioned since not many people call out the power tripping by .ml admins despite it happening quite often.

Yeah I definitely skipped on this. And that’s exactly what those Ruskis rely on.

I went to an Irish discord server, first one from searching Discord list. One dude seemed also rather weird there, then admitted he’s against Ukraine, while still every much insisted he’s Irish, “born & bred in Limerick”.

I taunted him enough to get him to come to the voice channel while recording. Holy fuck, no pronunciation, a thick Russian accent, and he didn’t even know what a limerick is when I asked him to tell me one.

And no-one on the server minded him. A few were against him in theory but still just let him be.

We can’t just let them be.

I got to dig the screenshots from somewhere when I’m on PC

Also I haven’t really been sober many days this month :D
