I’m noticing a lot of posts in this community have textures with a lot of artifacts in them. Little dots of off-color. I wonder what it is about tools or technique they’re using.

This piece was from sometime before 1922 since the painter died that year. Another example of this effect is The Songwriter by Mark Beck, who was born in 1942. Very little information about Beck seems to be online.

Maybe they’re going really heavy on multiple layers of rough strokes or maybe they like to add tiny splatters, but its certainly odd to me.
