    I really don’t understand how a gay black man can be in the current Republican Party without large levels of self-loathing.

      Probably the same way a huge portion of the black population is Christian.

    It might actually be a decent strategy for making Florida a bit better, running on principles people actually like but with the republican name. Depends what his other stances are though.
