This is wrong. The novel is heavily influenced by the book The Sabres of Paradise which is a biography of a muslim leader that united the Caucasian tribes to resist Russian colonialism in the early 1900s, and there is a wide range of themes and influences that Herbert and his son have talked about. Recency bias is making your analysis overly simplistic.
Dune is definitely inspired by middle east colonialism.
I’m not convinced on your take that the secret society of witches are a jewish allegory, or that the final outcome of Dune qualifies as a “Bene Gesserit controlled state of Arrakis”. I think you’re reaching here and walking into some classic conspiracy theories.
No idea about the books but the movies are boring as shit.
Its not even a bad story its just the way they filmed it that makes it a snooze fest.
I would agree that for a lot of people Denis Villeneuve’s direction is rather sleep-inducing. I remember going with friends to see Blade Runner 2049 and the friends went to sleep. It is usually the case with atmosphere-heavy and subtext heavy movies. Another example of a similar director would be Nicolas Winding Refn. Who deliberately sometimes refuses to engage the audience. Instead you are stuck with a few minutes long closeup of the character thinking about something.
I think those kinds of films are not for all people. But those that love this aesthetic love it a lot.
