Hopefully some of these flat earthers were CEOs? I mean to say “thoughts and prayers”.

But maybe we need a new cutsey saying “at least one CEO amongst them” or something.

This is actually an incredible story.

Dave McKeegan, a tremendous influencer in the flat earther world, was offered a free trip to Antarctica to see the sun circle the South Pole with his own eyes.

He agreed to go, and brought his own cameras to video the sun. He witnessed it, recorded it, and accepted it. He then posted the video and publicly admitted that he was wrong, and that the Earth is indeed round.

I have a lot of respect for the way he handled what I imagine to be very profound, and very public, cognitive dissonance.

Edit: Dave McKeegan was the name of the debunker who organized the expedition, not the influencer whose video I saw and admitted he was wrong. My mistake.

No, Dave McKeegan wasn’t the one who organised the expedition either. That was Will Duffy. Dave is just a debunker, photographer and one of the “globe earthers” who agreed to go as well.

Dave McKeegan isn’t who offered to fund a flat earther. He was himself funded by the guy who arranged the whole thing, same as the flat earther was. Dave McKeegan was simply a prominent debunker with skills as a photographer who accepted to take part in this venture.

Dave McKeegan is/was not a flat earther. He’s a debunker, and was funded as the globe proponent for “The Final Experiment”. Jeran and Witsit, went for the flat earthers. There were others from both sides there with about 10 in total.

You’re right. I saw an influencer video where he did everything I wrote above. When I grabbed the YouTube link for my comment I saw Dave McKeegan’s name and made the incorrect assumption that it was the influencer’s video. My mistake.

This sounds like chatgpt. Are you chatgpt? Because you’re supposed to tell me if I ask right?

I’m just a person who can’t find the original video anymore. Lol

That story below is tragic. 12 restaurant workers killed in their dorm by fumes from a generator that was used while the power was out.

I saw that as well. Was there ever an explanation for why they kept the generator inside? I really hope there was a good reason.

The fact you don’t know something doesn’t make you stupid, it just means nobody has ever taught you about it.

Carbon monoxide isn’t something people can just inherently know.

Fair enough. Human ignorance? I guess what I was getting at is that there isn’t ever a “good reason” (which is the term used in the comment i was replying to) to exhaust a generator to any indoor space.

True. It ain’t cheap. I got all the gear for it and thought about doing that recently because it’s geographically much closer than the Eurasia Alps.

      Nope.

That boat from Australia is VERY expensive. Without expedition sponsorship or a science grant, not happening.
