I don’t know how I never got that idea. I’ve always complained that a panorama roof is mainly a feature for the rear passengers - well, this is actually rather excellent.

Pure fucking bliss. I love hearing rains patter over roof. Calm the heart.

Yeah, bought it used. They are pretty cheap because they are really bad electric cars but nice, you know, cars. So I treated myself to a bad electric car which is a nice car for me anyway.

Don’t know where you get the “bad” from. I owned one and they were amazing EVs. They took the approach of being first and foremost and Audi that just happened to have an electric drive train and that was perfect. Also I know a lot of people shit on them for their 220mi range, but I had a L2 charger at home and only used it around the metro and occasionally small trips and never needed to use a charger anywhere else but home. I enjoyed the power and looks too. The brakes did an amazing job stopping it down because of how heavy it was. Too many lower end EVs forget about that and feel “squishy”. All in all, you made a great choice.

It really uses a lot of energy and it doesn’t have V2L or thermal preconditioning for the battery or super fast CCS charging or any of the other niceties that more modern platforms have.

That said, all of that is just fine for me, I just pull my trailer when working in the forest and very occasionally go on longer trips which are fine as well, to be honest. Chilling a bit at the charger every 2 hours is okay, usually my dog tags along so we’re taking a break anyway.

At home it gets charged from my solar panels for about half the year, so that’s cheap driving at least in summer.

Nah, you’re right, it’s a nice but not very modern thing that has been overtaken by time. I like it though, but I also use an IBM Model M, so take that as you will.

No, not at all. This is my first nice car and I made use of the general uncertainty around used electric cars and the eTron being a relatively old concept in this fast moving market. Cost around 30k€ for a bottom right configuration.

They are comparably cheap as used ones in Germany nowadays. 3y old original e-tron is around 30.000€ atm,not outrageous. Q8 e-tron start at 48k

We are talking about a upper class EV,mate. This IS cheap. The average new car in Germany is currently sold for 44k€,btw.

A similar combustion Q8 actually costs more. And again: We are taking about an Audi, not a Skoda - this is a fairly high price market segment.

BTW: CEO is just a job title and not a financial statement. I am a CEO. I drive a KIA. My friend drives a Skoda as a CEO. Not all CEOs are filthy rich. Actually most aren’t.

This is an ex leasing car. It was driven by the owner of a agriculture machine repair shop who apparently went everywhere his customers went as well, judging by the buckets of fine, sandy, northern german soil I have dug out from being the fender liners.

I think, Audi offered them for very low leasing rates for a while and therefore the market is now flooded with lots of these. They aren’t very efficient and they are quite bad on the software side, so dealers are glad when they get them off the lot.

I just like having an electric car with all wheel drive that can be raised enough to travel the forest roads around here without worrying and it fills that specific need quite well.

Actually the leasing rate was abhorrent for a long time, but large companies need a certain CO2 average across their fleets - and that is often only obtainable by having EVs in their fleets. Only recently it got better - while the rules will tighten next year the market has broader offers and availability now. And a fair share of companies cancelled their contracts early or their regular contracts ended, all bringing them to the used car market and on the other hand the used car market for EVs is very slow generally. Which is kind of stupid as it is clear that EC batteries actual last longer than even the manufacturers thought.

My former car dealer (Audi) basically begs every few weeks for my company to lease his e-trons used. (I almost exclusively lease used cars for my staff, which is not the norm and actually a bad idea economically…) But I got fucked over by VW AG to often to ever do business with them again.

That’s where you’re wrong. You can park anywhere with your “park anywhere” lights! It’s the red triangle button.

I spent half an hour after work last night doing that. Wish it could have been more but have to go back this morning.
