Though spending was up, there was another worrying sign about the overall health of the app ecosystem. This year, global app downloads were down by 2.3%, compared with 2023, reaching nearly 110 billion. This downward trend was seen across both app stores, the data indicates.

    If it’s 2.3% less spyware flashlight apps and QR-Code readers that pry on less educated users, that’s a good thing.

      They are not though, In app transactions is probably the reason.

    I’d be using apps a lot more often, if they were actually functionally useful, and not just a vehicle for micro transactions, and ad revenue. Half of the shit i used to open regularly is now paywalled, to the point where even the barebones features of those apps aren’t available anymore
