Summary
Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, a 50-year-old Saudi Arabian doctor, faces 5 counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder, and aggravated assault after driving into a crowded Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, killing five (including a 9-year-old boy) and injuring 200.
Using a rental car, he bypassed security barriers and drove 1,200 feet through the market.
Authorities are investigating his motive, possibly linked to grievances over Saudi refugees’ treatment.
Al-Abdulmohsen, a former psychiatrist, had a history of inflammatory online posts and erratic behavior. Investigations continue as officials appeal for eyewitness evidence.
Cool. Any AfD members going to be charged as accessories? How about Elon Musk? No? “Lone wolf” again, huh?
A whole pack of lone wolves!
Yep the charges are no-brainers. Wilful killing with means endangering the general public is necessarily murder, and aggravated assault has quite a low bar: Any weapons, stealth, committing it as a group, etc. A car qualifies as weapon.
The question isn’t whether he’s going to get life but the date of his first parole hearing as well as whether, if he ever gets paroled, his release will be into preventive detention.
