TIL - the SU-25 has a titanium plate around the cockpit to add some measure of protection to the pilot. That’s that thick sheet of metal in front of the cockpit that stopped the damage.

Without it the plane and pilot would have likely been toasty.

How big are the russian drones??? I was thinking they’re like a foot wide and like 7 inches tall. This looks like it was hit midair by something the size of a cow.

Great. Now I’m imaging a cow up in the sky flying on a magical skateboard, wearing sunglasses and being cool. It could be the basis of a new kids book. “Cows in the sky with skateboards”.

Yeah, this idea no longer has anything to do with russia, or Ukraine. My brain is just like this. Now come help me write a childrens story book, that’s vaguely Beatles inspired, but not enough to get our asses sued by Yoko Ono.

Drones come in many sizes, from as small as a credit card to the size of a cow. Larger is possible as well. Size is tradeoffs - the credit card size cannot contain camera much less anything useful (like much range) - but they are cheap. large ones can carry useful payloads but are expensive.
