The species of betta commonly associated with that name has been domesticated for centuries and refined by selective breeding into something quite different from the original form that best suits the role as ornamental fish that people intend them to fill. As such, they’re surely full-release fish by now.

Still waiting on Fish 1.1, it should have several new features but has been floundering in development hell…

According to the “release history” on their page, it is currently at 4.0b1.

I’m not familiar with their versioning, but if the “b” indicates a beta release, the latest stable release would still be 3.7.1.

        (I enjoyed your pun)

You got me properly, I was wondering where you were going with all that by “selective breeding” and quite happily read all the way to the end in order to find out.

They are kept in perpetual betta to swindle investors.
