Watched an interesting analysis about where Big Lots went wrong — evidently they shifted from buying unsold overstock from other retailers and started buying small furniture directly from cheap Chinese suppliers.

Ours was liquidated a few months ago, and honestly, I only noticed because I went to a store next to it. I don’t think I’ve ever stepped into a Big Lots store, though I do frequently go to the local dollar store and shop discounts.
I’m really not sure those jobs are worth keeping around. Afaik, they don’t actually make anything, they’re a pure retailer, so another retailer will likely buy up their properties and create pretty much the same jobs that existed under Big Lots management, but perhaps with more job security.
So yeah, not going to shed any tears over this.
