Synopsis
(trying to be neutral here)
Hazycora[1] was informally hired to work on Loops web UI. Then Daniel[2] posted about his idea to launch a video ads network for Loops (which he latter admitted was a joke), and Hazycora commented that such posts hurt people’s trust in him.
This was followed by an avalanche of mutual accusations, which I shall not dwell, as a result Hazycora no longer works for Loops.
Consequences
- Accounts using “hazy.gay” email domain were banned on loops.video with a fake dubstep-posting Kamala Harris account as an excuse. This also breaks guest browsing on loops.gay.
- Hazycora’s username on loops.video was forcibly changed from single-letter “h” to “hazellll”.
- Disassemblies of the Loops client were published on GitHub.
- Hazycora says she has got more than $500 in donations in the past two days; Daniel says his following count is growing, and hers are going down; both claims need verification.

This is so weird from the outside looking in. I haven’t heard of any of these people and my experience with the loops video player is that it looks like one or two people just post little pointless videos sometimes on someone’s hobby website.
This post feels like someone taking their little five person lunchroom drama and putting it in like a town newspaper as if any other readers should feel the need to know about it.
So there’s a couple things. Inevitably hosting a video site is expensive as hell, not to mention getting brands to use something requires more than just users. For the former, recurring donations can take the pain away and is in the spirit of the Fediverse as we know it. But with advertising, you have a guarantee and as things develop, brands will go crazy to target their desired demographics. Which is something that the Fediverse isn’t really on board with from a fundamental point of view. All in all, it’s easy to say it was only a joke. That would be far more believable if not for the vindictive actions that followed. It’s not the first questionable thing Dansup has done and it won’t be the last. In this case I think he could’ve just posed the question and had an open discussion about it.
I’m glad that the community is supporting Hazycora for taking a moral stand.
It’s not the first questionable thing Dansup has done and it won’t be the last.
Can you explain more about what are these questionable things?
I’d prefer not to as I don’t want to smear the man. He does some fantastic things with the majority of his time.
You already did smear the man. That’s why I’m asking about the details, because I suspect that you have none and are smearing him unfairly.
What in the weirdo behaviour is this?
Sounds like I got my answer. Usually, if someone makes vague insinuations against someone, it’s fair to ask for details. Making snide remarks to smear someone, but then refusing to elaborate with details that could be verified, is weird.
If someone said that I’d done something questionable, I really hope someone like you doesn’t pipe up to try and make a mountain out of a molehill.
Sounds more like you are delusional and making things up.
What, you mean when I said, “It’s not the first questionable thing DeadPand has done and it won’t be the last,” and then got quiet when asked what I’m even talking about?
Can someone give more info on this one? Seems kinda fresh and I don’t want to go digging deep into replies.
What do you mean by “mutual accusations”?
seems like quite a mess, but hazellll is based af
