Coffee brewers that have a hot plate under the carafe will burn and ruin coffee. The best method of keeping coffee fresh is to keep it in a sealed container (like a double walled carafe with a lid)

Microwaving coffee is actually a pretty decent way to re-heat it, but the taste will depend on how fresh it was kept prior

Burn and ruin? My god man, it’s veritable caffeine tarmac lining the intestines and pumping that blood like crazy. Taste bud plebs, the lot of them.

See, I like to actually enjoy myself sometimes, instead of just hating the world

And part of that enjoyment is good coffee. Fresh, locally roasted coffee, that I grind fresh each morning. I either take it black, or with a splash of milk, depending on my mood

Drip brewers are perfectly fine, so long as you don’t use the hot plate. But the biggest impact on coffee flavor is the freshness of both the roast and the grind

But I like it burned and ancient. Seriously. Used to go round the office and dunk all the dredges in my tumbler, dump 1/8 cup of sugar in there, ice it down.

Yes your horrified, yes I got fat.

A mug on a plate is not interchangeable, conceptually, with a teacup and saucer. Even ones decorated in a rather fetching Wedgewood-esque style.

Put the foot down on your camera if you’re going to leave it open. Not for any technical reason, it just looks better. Or don’t I guess if you like it that way.

My wife is like an alcoholic leaving half-drunk beers all over the house. I dump them into my own cup, nuke it.

Don’t microwave coffee. Coffee is made up of fats and proteins that go rancid when reheated.

No! That’s because of the way it is and anyway don’t you know that the flavors don’t fully bloom after reheating!!!

Coffee is for making poops happen and getting code written. No need for “fully bloomed flavors” lol

Yeah, there’s nice coffee and bad coffee but there’s a point where you can spend a seemingly infinite amount of extra effort on coffee for no real gain.

They go bad sitting out, losing volatiles and absorbing oxygen. Microwaving bad, old coffee gives you bad warm coffee

OTOH microwaving well stored coffee or some that has only just gone cold is the last damaging way of warming it
