I bought a One The Rocks brand premixed bottle of Aviation hoping to see if i like it enough to buy the ingredients. But it has a terrible nai polish remover after taste. At first its very, floral and pleasant but its the cheap plastic bottle vodka, flavor that harshes my mellow.
Is this just how aviations are or this just the On The Rocks style aviation

No it shouldn’t. It’s likely the cheap/unfresh ingredients in the mixer. Buy the ingredients separate and always use fresh citrus! The taste is truly really worth the effort.
They often self half-sized bottles of all these ingredients so you don’t have to commit to big full big bottles
Alternatively, hit up your local craft cocktail bar and have them make you a true one so you can test if you enjoy the taste enough to make at home.

Aviations taste amazing when mixed correctly. That said some recipes are insane with their proportions. I recommend making it yourself with 2oz gin, 1/2oz crème de violet and maraschino liquor. Bonus points if you can find a crème de violet that isn’t syrupy. When I was in Colorado Elevation 5003 distillery sold the best liquors and the cheap stuff like arrow didn’t cut it anymore.
I have trouble with floral flavors - rosewater desserts, floral gin, and yep creme de Violette. I love many flavors, but nobody can like everything.
