Article fails to mention that the judge also ruled that he will face no penalties or consequences for his actions. He literally got away with it. He literally got away with all of it.
Corporate dictatorship, doing corporate dictatorship things, because it’s a corporate dictatorship.
"The Defendant has been found guilty on 34 felony counts. The significance of the fact that the verdict was handed down by a unanimous jury …cannot possibly be overstated. …The sanctity of a jury verdict and the deference that must be accorded to it, is a bedrock principle in our … jurisprudence.”
"The sanctity of a jury verdict and the deference that must be accorded to it, is a bedrock principle in our … jurisprudence.
The principle of actually enforcing punishment on wealthy individuals…not so much."
Finished that statement for him.
If anyone finds themselves in front of this pathetic little simp of a judge they need to constantly remind him of how he dealt with Trump. This worthless little shit of a judge deserves to be reminded of his failure and capitulation forever. Anyone who gets worse than a slap on the wrist with a wet piece of lettuce from this fuck stain has been hard done by.
It’s not just this judge. It’s everybody involved in all of these cases.

This judge, despite having all the power in the world to do so, opted to take absolutely no significant action against Trump (a $1000 fine is not a significant action against a billionaire) when Trump violated a gag order ten fucking times and put the lives of staff, jurors, witnesses, and the judge’s own daughter at risk. Then, after being found guilty, the judge played the typical “rich, white privilege” card and allowed Trump to “go home and get his affairs in order” before being sentenced. Because, you know, normal defendants get to do that all the fucking time, right? Then he used every excuse he could to delay sentencing until after the election, likely in hopes that Trump would win so he wouldn’t have to actually go through with imposing a sentence at all. And it seems he got his wish. Good job, Merchan. Thanks for letting us know that there’s a separate tier for people like Trump that can ignore court orders with impunity and not actually face punishment for crimes.

The less said about Aileen Cannon, the better. At least she was blatant about it and all but said that the fix was in for Trump the minute she got the case, when she outright stated Trump should be treated differently. And she too delayed the case as long as possible to drag it out past the election, until Clarence Thomas jumped in and gave her an out so she could just throw the case out entirely.

Merrick Garland, a Republican, decided to thank the American people and the Democrat party that supported him in both his SC nod and his AG position by dragging his feet on all things Trump for years, hired Jack Smith who did nothing but drag his feet even more until the clock ran out, and then decided that prosecuting Hunter Biden at warp speed was a top priority in order to give some kind of appearance of fairness. Or something. (And this is why Democrats won’t cooperate with Republicans. This is how they get repaid.)

Fani Willis had literally the most important case in not only her own career, but in this country’s history. A case handed to her on a silver platter that a first year associate could have handled with ease. A case that literally would have allowed her to write her own ticket for the rest of her career. And she decided that it would be a good idea to use state and federal funds used to investigate and prosecute that case to hire someone she was having an affair with, use those funds to cover up that affair, and irreparably taint the entire case in the process. This woman should be disbarred and criminally prosecuted herself.

Tanya Chutkan was the only judge that seemed to have been trying to move things along at a reasonable pace. So of course, she had to have every monkey wrench possible thrown in the works by the Supreme Court by giving him such broad immunity that they might as well anoint Trump king, forcing Chutkan to hold hearings about what acts are and aren’t “official” acts which served absolutely no purpose except to drag the case as a whole out past the election, which is exactly what the Supreme Court wanted.
Fuck the entire judicial system. If you don’t believe that our judicial system will bend over backwards to accomodate rich, white men, I direct you to … <gestures broadly> …

Upvote for Firefly reference.
Decent take. But I’m actually commenting to tell you that I love your username
i love it when my legal system is forced to show its true colors instead of all the lofty bullshit of “the rule of law”
i hope it’s televised somehow so that i can watch the judge kowtow in real time to the reality of the system he himself probably doesn’t want to accept and tell himself that “it’s just this one time”
Just a pathetic joke of a nation.
