I started reading the article, and then they started quoting trump…and I just can’t read anymore. I’ve decided that I’m just NOT going to read any more of this article. His complaining is not worth my time. This has no bearing on me, and my mental health is not going to be damaged reading every little dipshit thing he says.

Ugh…can we just NOT do the next 4 years? Just…no. C’mon. This guy has been in our lives for too long. He’s been front and center of our every waking moment for the past…holy shit, 8 years. And it’s going to be 4 MORE years.

I could not tell you what Clinton, or Bush, or Obama are up to. I’m sure in 2 months time I won’t be able to tell you what Biden is up to at that point. But you just KNOW that assuming he lives long enough to still be alive in 4 years, he’s NOT going to go away. Regardless of who our 2028 election winner is, when they’re sworn in, you just KNOW he’s going to hang around and claim to be the REAL president.

I feel like I’ve been in a coma, and I can’t wake up, and my subconscious, which creates reality around me, is just stuck on hateful fuck you mode. None of this feels logically real. None of it. The big stuff. The little stuff. Even the idea of Taylor Swift at the Superbowl being interpreted as a political move…despite at the time NEVER speaking one political opinion…AND DATING THE QUARTERBACK PLAYING IN THE SUPERBOWL…how is this real life? How??? HOW IS THIS WHAT LIFE IS???

    I CAN’T FIGURE IT OUT!!!

flips a table on the way out

If you think that’s bad, imagine what it’s like to not even be in the USA and have to hear about this guy every day for years too. It’s inescapable, particularly online but also in daily life!

Some of the Lemmy mobile apps let one filter out posts by keywords. I just use the website, but maybe it’s worth downloading one.

I really want to stop hearing about Musk.

Good suggestion! I do actually have filters with a lot of keywords already set up, pretty much entirely to get rid of USA politics because it’s all complete dross, but it still seeps through occasionally. There’s just too much of it for my poor keyword filter I suppose 😂

I would suggest ignoring news about the world’s richest man and his lackey, the man running the country with the world’s most powerful military and a shitload of nukes, might not be the best plan.

Not like we can affect change anyway, so what does it matter what they do? I’m not in the US so it’s even more out of my hands than it would be for somebody in that country. I do already filter out Musk, Republican, Trump and a bunch of other USA politics but they still bleed through because it’s an absolute torrent that never ends lol

Just FYI, Travis Kelce is a tight end not a quarterback.

Fear and hate is what has gotten us here. This is why life is as we know it. Afraid of something? Take the easy way and be against, or hate, it. People are so lazy, too lazy to even try to tolerate one another. It’s easier to parrot headlines and social media posts than it is to read an article from a trusted source. It’s easier to watch 5 second videos than it is to look up and see what is going on. It’s not just the next 4 years. This new rhetoric is here to stay. When Trump inevitably dies, the party will just move forward with this lunacy. We all may as well get used to it.

Duly noted. The day Trump dies flags will not be at half mast. If anything, it should be a new celebratory holiday.

It will be a day of mourning for a lot of people, so it’s quite appropriate.

Dumb shit like this is weirdly a source of hope for America, because when he’s piddling like this, he’s not killing people with idiot decisions.

Let’s hope for more embarrassing toddler shit to crowd out as much actual harm as possible.
