I recently bought a 7600XT so I have AMD’s Adrenaline. Now when I play Ghost Recon Breakpoint. According to AMD’s software I’m getting between 290 to 310 FPS.
But when I play Breakpoint, the in game FPS counter says only between 90 to 100 FPS. So,
- Why the Discrepancy? and
- Which one is right?
Do you have Fluid Motion or some sort of frame fill/smoothing turned on? My understanding is that the in game counter would not detect the extra frames generated by Adrenaline.
I just checked and yes I do.
Many games have the fps limited to prevent massive glitches that often happen. Could also be vsync or a number of other settings. With something like vsync, the game engine can run faster than the frames hitting your monitor as they’ll be tossed away to prevent tearing.
Which one is right rather depends on the refresh rate of your screen. Your gpu can render 300 frames but if your screen only does 160 Hz you will only see 160.
But yeah, frame generation will only be picked up by your gpu driver software.
Edit: Nevermind, wrong advice.
