Hello,
Does anyone here have any experience of using geothermal heat pumps to get hot water and heat home in winter and use the same geothermal loop to cool through HVAC in summer?
We have a WaterFurnace geothermal system. Love it. Was expensive to have installed (drilling rig in our yard for a couple days drilling deep holes for the piping was the biggest expense), but after several years of use now, totally worth it.
Do you mind telling roughly how much it cost?
Roughly $30k pre COVID.
These guys look awesome. Exactly kind of solution I was looking for.
Out of curiosity, do you know how deep your bore ended up being?
2 holes, 400’ each.
The apostrophe is feet, right? That’s shallower than I thought.
It’s worth remembering that you’re not really drilling down until it’s “hot”, but rather just using a big stable thermal mass to exchange energy with. Once you’re below the top few feet of soil, your temperatures are gonna get pretty stable.
