There was a story I heard, but didn’t verify so grab your salt-shaker… but it goes that when cannabis was going through legalization in Colorado the irony was that the measure had support from PDs and that the major opposition came from medical dispensaries. I heard a similar rumor when it went through Oregon, but there main opposition there was supposedly “grass roots” concerned citizens organizations with suspiciously deep pockets.
Although I know I heard the second one word-of-mouth, I utterly believe it. For decades, living in Oregon when pot was still widely illegal in most states, it used to be said that lumber was Oregon’s second largest cash crop.
A Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) judge has ordered the agency to respond to new allegations that it opposes the Biden administration’s marijuana rescheduling proposal it is supposed to be defending and that it had additional improper communications with opponents of the reform.
In all likelihood the DEA opposed it because Biden told him too.
But it’s hard to tell because Biden’s admin spent the last four years pretending the President has no control over any federal agency, and the vats majority of his agency heads just ignored his requests
DEA has been fighting the 2018 farm bill for a few years, claiming that thca should be treated as delta 9. Maybe, but it went to the courts and they said, “nope, follow what it says!”
