        That’s technically what he said, but a donut called krapfen is also very commonly called a Berliner. I am from Berlin (Ich komme aus Berlin) is the more common way to say it.

        So he wasn’t really wrong, so much as it was funny colloquially.

          Actually there are many words for this specific German kind of donut. Krapfen is common, where I live it’s Kreppel. Since it’s arguably the Berlin way of pancake (Berliner Pfannkuchen), in Berlin it’s just called Pfannkuchen and in some spaces it’s called Berliner.

        You won’t be right but you can say them.
