Let’s make a list of bs excuses that I wouldn’t be surprised if they used. I’ll start:

“No, you see, you are not covered if your neighbor’s house also burns”

Insurance companies have been trying to leave these markets for years. They know what’s coming. This is just the beginning.

Who’s ready ready for the American Dust Bowl II. Except this time instead of the dignity of a suffocating cloud of dust, wide spread crop failures, and good old fashioned starvation we’ll have… Let me look… All that plus fox news!

I hope misery and suffering are as cool as all that post apocalyptic fiction has led me to believe.

They’re not trying, they’ve been leaving.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the government will need to treat the west coast like it treats the south east. Government natural disaster insurance to manage them the fact that private insurance is too expensive.

Yes, but the NFIP is a federal program and has the ability to cover much more.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the actuary offices of these companies. Not enough popcorn in the world.

It’s probably a bunch of meetings where people are just selling them bunkers to hide from the fallout and whatnot.

Actuary meetings are very boring and data nerdy.

It’s other departments where the evil shit happens.

After the black Saturday fires in Australia, many home owners who were insured discovered to their horror that they were under insured

The value of their possessions and the repair value of their home had increased but they hadn’t increased the level of insurance coverage to match. Despite suffering total losses, many have been unable to afford to rebuild.

This has been in the back of my mind seeing the LA fires. This is just the beginning. It will take decades for some of these people to re establish.
