I’m in the LA area. Glad that we’re staying above freezing, especially in the wake of the fires.

But seriously, it feels like we’re getting these humongous weather patterns fairly regularly now. Maybe someone should investigate what’s going on with our global climate and causing these.

I recognize it was sarcasm, but in case you have any people in your life that argue that this cold snap disproves climate change, NOAA made this nice graphic to show what’s causing the unusual cold.

For our non-American friends, subzero in Fahrenheit is actually cold. Not like that pansy Celsius subzero which is barely chilly.

Talk to me when it hits -40, and, no, I’m not putting any units on that.

That is my favorite temperature to convert between the two.

Thats pretty coldn for the us. -18c. I have that every winter, -30 even sometimes but for people who are not used to it -18 can actually be extremely dangerous.

Right on the line, 0 to 20° here. Time to insulate the hoses and such.

Damnit. I’m also in the PNW and now I realize I need to do this. At least my outdoor plants should all be fine at those temps.

Roses are immortal. Once they are planted, you can’t get rid of them, weather be damned.

Edit: Source: I moved into my house 3 plus years ago and have been trying to kill off a very poorly located rose bush from the beginning. I’m about to pour vinegar on the thing.

We have mint too. Every time I think I’ve uprooted it all, it grows back.

You’ve gotta salt the earth if you want to get rid of mint.
