Some things don’t need perfecting because they’re already perfect.
I always felt like the EMH was intended to bring a little bit of the absurdity of Red Dwarf into Star Trek, he felt in so many ways modeled on Arnold Rimmer since they’re both holograms.
Just wish we’d have gotten some MKIII on Voyager.

We don’t talk about MKII in real life for the same reason they don’t talk about MKIII in-universe.
Bashir (and his parents separate of his influence) made some shady ethical decisions, but nothing quite so atrocious as… y’know.
