It’s two characters, specifically Itchy and Scratchy from The Simpsons.

This is from season 20 episode 7, “MyPods and Broomsticks”. Scratchy is listening to a MyPod (parody of Apple iPod), and Itchy reaches over to increase the volume limit beyond its capacity. This causes Scratchy’s eardrums to explode. This scene occurs at approximately 8:37 into the episode.

The drum and bass scene seemed like it was just about to take off and then fucking dubstep happened. Sigh…

My dude, d&b has been around for over a decade before dubstep became a thing. We are IE came out in '91. I’ve got jungle records that were mainstream in the early 90s, while dubstep didn’t gain popularity until mid 2000s.

Yes, I’ve been into Bill Laswell for ages (Oscillations 1996). I’m not suggesting dnb was new. I’m saying that it was beginning to look like it was gonna blow up and I’d have a ton of fun going to lots of great dnb parties, like Planet of the Drums used to be. Source: also old former raver.

Meanwhile, Dubstep failed to get mass appeal in Europe while DnB is still going strong, granted it isn’t big in every country, Germany sadly included, but it doesn’t look like it it’s going away anytime soon.

I actually listened to Dubstep before I started listening to DnB. I switched because of Riddim, a lot of melody was suddenly gone.

140 introduced me to plenty of good 172. 140 shows are inundated now, need to go to less popular EDM events to find people who are more interested in the music and less in being where the crowd is.

It’s from The Simpsons s20e07: “MyPods and Broomsticks”.

Happens around 8:37 into the episode. Scratchy is listening to a MyPod (parodying Apple iPod). Itchy reaches over and increases the volume past its limit, causing Scratchy to blow his eardrums.
