I just find it adorable how they are constantly regurgitating various blocks of quasi-legalese word salad and they think that it actually means something.

This one started out as a misunderstanding - while they were seriously mistaken about reality, you could still see them being sane. Then, wtf, take those kids for their safety

And they spend hours “studying” their nonsense, and when they come up for air to ask a question because none of it makes sense, of course, the other sovcits just tell them they need to study. It’s a game of chicken really.

This has to be the first time I’ve seen a sovcit use the made up legalese against themselves.

To be fair, Legalese reads like magic to the average person already.

Might as well try to make your own incantations from those same magic words.

That’s actually pretty close to the truth. They’re LARPing their simulacra of legal speak.

They also treat some words as spells. As if the utterance alone creates an effect on reality.

As if the utterance alone creates an effect on reality.

I mean, the law has radically different effects based on the interpretation of a comma.

If sovcits ever manage to get one of their own elected as a judge, their utterances will, indeed, have a tangible effect on reality.

Proof to me that evolution has never been about ‘survival of the fittest’, just ‘survival of the good-enough to reach breeding age’.

Reaching breeding age and procreating is being the fittest though. At least in terms of evolution, you’re right it doesn’t select for the “best” just whatever lives long enough to fuck.

You could argue that some of it is the legal/political systems failure to communicate clearly. While I’m sure there are lots of reasons someone might take this left turn from reality, certainly one f them has to be not comprehending reality

What’s weird is that people looking to adopt need to pass all kinds of bars before they’re allowed. It’s like we all recognize that not everyone is qualified to raise children but we stop short of preventing unqualified people from having children naturally.

Mostly because Very Bad Things happen when you let the government decide who does and doesn’t have the right to procreate. Like, the US sterilization programs in the early 1900s directly inspired Hitler. History has shown us where that path goes.

Probably because eugenics is somewhat looked down upon in modern society.

I see the point you’re making here, but, please don’t. We have much more pressing societal issues we need to solve before we’re able to properly address “should stupid people be allowed to breed?” not least of which involves who exactly is responsible for approving and issuing boning licenses.

Yeah eugenics is an intoxicating idea because it starts out with “what if we artificially selected for the best traits in humanity, how far could we go if everyone was performing at their best” and ends up with at best GATTACA and at worst lobotomies, gas chambers, forced sterilisations, and authoritarianism over people’s bodies.

People get wrapped up in these conspiracies because they lack control over some parts of their life and so will grasp at anything that can explain away the bad situation as being some malicious conspiracy.

When in reality, somewhere the system has failed them because the support or opportunities they need hasn’t been delivered.

Rather than focusing on how everyone appears to be an inept ill-informed idiot that isn’t doing anything meaningful, individuals and by extension society, should focus on how to elevate what people are good at and what they can contribute.

I think the point is that adopting should be much easier. I’m not sure I agree but if that’s the premise I can’t really disagree.

Oh no, it did. It filters idiots very well when left alone. We’ve artificially kept these people alive and procreating via our medical innovations.

How long do you think a group of sovcits would survive on their own in a little community in the woods, without the rest of society propping them up?

How far gone do you have to be that paperwork is an existential crisis? Nobody really likes paperwork, but you don’t have to traumatize yourself.
