His nazi salute looked like a nazi salute.

On account of it being a nazi salute.

Why is the AP afraid to call it what it is?

Journalism has catastrophically failed. You will never see them speak truth to power, ever.

    “straight-arm gesture”

is there any reputable, major news outlet that knows how to call a spade a spade? Or is all journalism dickless, now?

For all the Republicans that aren’t Nazis that probably lurk around posts like this. Do you really wanna be on the same side of this argument as these guys? I know you guys are out there because I see comments every now and then. And I know not every Republican is racist or a fascist, but the racists and fascists love this. They’re not just trying to defend someone that’s on their side, they are excited to see this. You can’t accidentally do a Nazi salute just like you can’t accidentally get the support of other Nazis. You have to do that shit on purpose.

If there’s one thing that should be clear from Trump’s reelection it’s that there is no limit to what the Republican voters will support.

Anyone who was going to leave the Republicans has probably done so by now. All that’s left are the MAGA true believers, single issue voters, the echo chamber dwellers who would be outraged if they were aware of news from the real world, and compartmentalists who block out all warning signs coming from their own side as no true Scotsman conservative supports that stuff and even if they did it’s still better than the other side.

And of course, there’s also the low information voters who don’t know about any of this stuff and just want egg prices to go down or something.

True story: I’ve heard a few idiots trying to tell me that it’s how they say “hello” in the USA. I’m not American but I’m sure that I’ve never seen anyone saying hello like that in the movies.

Lifelong USAian, it’s never ever been how we say hello, it’s always been how you say “Hello, I’m a Nazi.”

Born and bred middle-aged American here, who’s lived in all four corners: nobody uses this to say “hello” except for Nazis.

Lived in the states for a while, saw zero nazi salutes. Maybe no one actually said hello to me the entire time, sob.

They are, in fact, idiots. There is an outstretched arm hello to people driving by, but there is zero fucking chance this nazi salute is it.

Musk has only fanned the flames of suspicion by not explicitly denying those claims

Now why could that be, I wonder?

all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath.

I’d have given him the benefit of the doubt a decade ago, but how clear does he have to make himself? We’ve been watching him get more and more overt for years at this point.
