We had a pre-release chat with these nuggets. They found the idea of where not to go and the reasons why not very interesting. All eyes focused on us.
Some of them will be placed on soft release after the wind quiets down this coming week.
Are they normally this social, or is it just because of the circumstances?
They’re all young ones so they don’t have territory to defend yet. They look to be Spotted Eagle Owls, so they will be more aggressive once they finish maturing and find a home of their own. For now though, they’re just kids playing around learning owl stuff.
It should be illegal in this community to call an owl a nugget
Especially since this is clearly a bunch of tendies. Nuggets are much smaller.
As a vegetarian (no offense meant or taken) my first association with nugget is gold. Either a small piece or the Aussie coin. So… they’re simply precious 🤗
I find chik’n nuggets to be full of less creepy stuff than chicken nuggets! Aldi had these ones that were so good and they had such great breading, but I’ve never seen that brand again. So heartbreaking.
Figured it was Strayans but apparently the rescue center is South African.
Strayan
You all never cease to amaze me with the amount of vocabulary I’m unaware of!
Oh! Like “Murican”. Nice. Cheers.
Owl 1: What’d he say?
Owl 2: “whah waa wahh waa. Wah whaa.”
Owl 1: *snkk*
Rescuer: Wah wahhh wha waa waaa. Whaha waa aa…
“This guy has the weakest hoot ever…”
Why do you call owls nuggets.
I just took it as a term of endearment for these young owls, referencing their small size, comparative to a chicken nugget.
I looked to see if a nugget was a common South African saying, and while I did not find that, it does seem the internet age has given the word about 100 meanings from one of love to one describing something pretty junky.
Given the context, I feel this was used in a positive way.
