It’s bizarre to me that the ivory trade still exists. No one is impressed by ivory anymore and there are much better materials to make things out of.
I mean, natural diamonds are still a thing while synthetic is better.
The diamond market has crashed tho. If only the ivory market would do the same!
I saw a documentary once that said that elephants are starting to be born without tusks. Male & female. It’s evolution in action. It’s sad to me, but life finds a way.
The market continues for people impressed by unethical qualities of materials as much as they’re impressed by the physical properties. “Nobody” is impressed by real lion pelts either, yet rich game hunters continue. It’s about dominance.
