    It’s Trump. His negotiations are a bit childish and highly belligerent. Maybe best just to come out of the gate with “Oh yeah? Then we’ll add 200% tariffs on everything American and 300% on cars. Nah!”, wait for Trump to blow up, and come back with “295 for cars?” Asking nicely or the usual diplomatic discussions don’t seem to work with that guy.

      Probably even better to just take it on the cheek and move forward with a mindset that doesn’t include America. It is too unstable of a country to be relied upon, and so Europe should perhaps consider not relying on it for anything.

      GDPR should’ve been a wake-up call. Instead of punching a hole through the legislation to allow American tech giants to move EU user data to America, the EU should’ve asked why such laws don’t work with those tech giants and moved infrastructure off of their software stacks onto its own.
