Summary

Gas prices in the U.S. are expected to rise after Trump imposed tariffs on Canadian and Mexican oil imports, aiming to curb illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

Canada’s oil faces a 10% duty, while Mexico’s is hit with 25%.

Midwest refiners, heavily reliant on Canadian oil, may face supply disruptions, while Gulf Coast refiners will need alternative sources for Mexican crude.

Fuel wholesalers warn that higher costs will be passed to consumers, affecting drivers nationwide, particularly in the East Coast and Midwest.

If you need to siphon gas out of a modern car, you will need a small diameter semi-rigid tube. You will need to work this tube past the check valve in the filler tube. Make sure your tube is long enough to reach the bottom of the tank you’re siphoning from, and then long enough to reach the container on the ground you’re siphoning into. A little one-way squeeze pump will help, but manual suction works in a pinch.

Of course, if you’re not concerned about the vehicle you’re siphoning from, you can punch a hole in the bottom of the gas tank and collect it that way, although you’re likely to waste fuel to spillage and not having enough containers to cart it all away.
