You know, it would have been nice if NYT and other prominent outlets of the “liberal media” had spent all of their time and energy on this during 2024 and 2023.
Instead of useless bullshit about how Biden is so old, how voters think about Kamala’s laugh, or how Biden/Kamala are just as bad as donvict and his Yarvinists…
The Times is infuriating.
They’ve been complicit like the others. For sure. Not trying to sound dismissive - rather I agree with your take on them and am really holding back because I’ve raged for days on Lemmy and this last year or more have taken extra offence at the media because I spent decades working in it and loved it before it became a whore to the advertiser in the 90s, the dollar in the 00’s, internet money in the 10’s, and whores to the right wing and Nazis now (funny enough one of which thinks advertisers are his now).
But the Times seems to have kept their hands off the opinion page. I don’t know why, but opinion pieces on the Times have been good or even amazing while surrounding them are the same milquetoast distillations that other editorial boards force in the news proper.
It’s quite a distinction. The ‘opinion of the paper’ - ALL of the shit they publish - is garbage with the rest. The traditional opinion page - specifically not the editorial opinion - has been left relatively free.
