In case anyone doesn’t get it, James Doohan (who is Canadian, not Scottish) lost a finger during the Normandy invasion in World War II.
That’s important context, but it’s not the main part of what I meant for the joke to be. I was riffing on the people and articles criticizing a new poster for the upcoming Fantastic Four film who state the absolutist (and almost always true) logic that if # of fingers ≠ 5, then AI was used. Retrospectively, this could also apply to the reaction to a poster for the upcoming Thunderbolts* film too.
I understand your intention, but it also would have been confusing for anyone who didn’t know that he only had four fingers for a very valid reason.
When I see a person who only has four fingers, I generally assume there is a very valid reason for that.
