I continued Alan Wake 2 today after my little Halo 2 detour yesterday. I was up late trying to get to Night Springs Episode 2 (we’re all about 2s today). Alan’s first few chapters took a while, but that’s okay because i’ll never pass up an excuse too explore more of the Dark Place. Something about it is just so much fun for me. I don’t ever feel like i can get enough of it.
So far i’m loving how the Night Springs DLC is corny. It makes it really amusing to play. I also like how the Second episode is filled to the brim with control references. There’s the red lights (the hiss), the Dark Triange Coffee (The board), and a few others i noticed. Plus i got to see Tim Breaker again which is awesome. One of my favorite new characters next to Door and the Koskela Brothers (though that’s probably like 90% of the new characters).
While working on Alan’s section i also got some fun screenshots i really like. There’s one which i feel like turned out like one of those Liminal Space photos that are always floating around. I don’t know if it counts as one but it has a very similar feel for me:
There was also this one which gave me heavy Max Payne vibes, though with how important that is in the lore it may have been intentional, and it probably doesn’t help how excited i am for the Max Payne Remakes;
Continuing Backwards, I was playing with my video settings because i can’t leave them alone (i’m determined to get perfect settings too take screenshots with). I got this one of the phone booth which i really like. I was hoping to get Alan’s reflection in it so i could frame it in a Mirror Image way, but it wasn’t reflective enough sadly:
Finally, i wanted to share this one of Ahti’s face being absolutely demolished by the Dark Place’s shadow effect:
Forbidden Siren 2 vibes here.
That’s the first I’m hearing of this game. What’s it like? I might give it a try
