On #SaturnDay here’s “Starfighter 3000”. This is a 1996 3D air combat game developed by Studio 3DO & Krisalis Software & published by Imagineer. It’s an enhanced port of a game originally released on the #Acorn #Archimedes in 1994.

I remember getting that game for PC as a little kid but not being able to start it for some reason. I was very new to computers, and didn’t understand that I needed a “3d graphics card” to be able to play it. A year later I got a hand-me-down PC from my uncle that had a graphics card and suddenly, magically this game worked! And the graphics! They were so amazing! I played it for countless hours. I even got a joystick so I could fly it like a real jet. Great times.
