Unfortunately lemmy.world/c/motorcycles has had an inactive mod for the last year, and while its a relatively low activity sub for its size, and activity is overwhelmingly civil, a mod should still be around in case a need arises.

I’m more than willing for other mods to be appointed, especially in other timezones (I’m in Australia) so long as we can agree on moderation standards.

As for why I would like to moderate this community? I’ve been riding motorcycles for nearly two decades on the road and track, own 5 motorcycles (Ninja 1000, ZX6R, SWM Superdual X, 2x FZR250) and some have claimed I have a small interest in motorcycling and the community.

For clarity I would update the sidebar to include the following rules:

  1. Be respectful and inclusive.
  2. No harassment, hate speech, or trolling.
  3. Engage in constructive discussions.
  4. Share relevant content.
  5. No advertising or self promotion.

I don’t know how the process of becoming a mod works when the existing one is AWOL. But I’d be glad to moderate along with others (no access during work for me).

I think you might need to be on the same instance? I haven’t seen any cross instance mods yet

Ah, that makes sense. In that case I appreciate whoever winds up mod to keep the /c/ alive.

Users from other instances can be mods, though it’s more difficult. Remote mods cannot see community reports due to a bug in Lemmy.
