    This thought just came to me.

    George Orwell is writing ‘1984.’

    He’s going over his notes, thinking about how best to portray evil.

    “Maybe I should have a thing where Big Brother denounces all science and tells the people to trust in clean air to stay healthy…”

    Then Orwell decides that’s too fucking crazy and would dilute the power of the book because no one would be that fucking evil.
