There’s a single-digit number of exceptions to this next statement but: Democratic Politicians, as a category of humans, are categorically useless in terms of reacting to anything outside of the imbecilic political kabuki game they’ve been playing and losing for decades, and entirely feckless at standing up to power. That’s what the “rational side” of our political establishment has become. I so fucking hate the two-party system.

Trump himself struggles to keep up. It would be hilarious to have a two-hour long impromptu interview with Aotus and ask about all these new policies. Who came up with ideas, the discussion they had about them, and how they are going to change the US for the better. With lots of specifics of course.

He’s correct of course. However, the things Trump are doing are so outrageous and overreaching that they must be opposed. And unless Democrats can find a few sympathetic Republican votes in Congress, that opposition will have to be in the courts. Understand that the opposition is mandatory at this point, because if no opposition is put up than Trump will push further.

So, then, it is a lot harder to get that positive message across when History demands you also forcefully oppose at the same time. I clearly recall an interview with Harris where she spent over a half hour identifying her policy positions, and about 5 or 10 minutes responding to questions about names Trump called her. All the headlines after that interview were along the lines of “Trump and Harris trade barbs”, not of the other stuff she said. It’s like she had been baited into irrelevance by simply being asked about stupid shit Trump said.

So do the Democrats need to do a better job of articulating their vision to the common voter? Yes, of course. But please dont interpret that to mean that they shouldn’t talk about their opposition to the Fascists in the current Republican party.

It’s like everyone with the power to do anything slept right through the last eight years.

Dems: “We didn’t do shit for 4 years except a genocide and expanding the other policies from Trump’s last term…”
