My money is paying for this. Not for the “purchase”, because that will never happen, but for their salaries, server capacity, electricity, etc.

Do you guys want to pool our tax money instead this year? We could vote how we want to spend it

As fun as that sounds I know the long arm of the IRS would happily go shoulder deep for every penny with fines if we tried that.

As long as you don’t have enough money to hire a team of attorneys to demonstrate that your offshore tax havens definitely aren’t ways for you to avoid paying taxes, you’re fair game!

The Greenland thing is serious. It’s full of natural resources, important to control when the Northwest passage will be ice-free and Russia claims it, too.
Annexing Canada is the “look over here” thing.

Canada is full of resources too. Perhaps a lot more angry beavers there to defend it tho…

“Ignore the fact that we almost caused a global financial collapse because we let a 20 something with no experience in COBOL muck around in the code for, and potentially introduce bugs to, the federal payment system that services, among other things, treasury bonds, the things that are the foundation of the global financial system. Yah we know we said he had read only access but whoops, turns out he actually had write access as well!”

This has got to be part of a bigger ploy to undermine the Onion and other satire publications.

It has to be. This bill getting any further than a mere proposal is futile. The Kingdom of Denmark cannot (easily) sell or otherwise transfer ownership of Greenland to another nation. It would require a change to its constitution (which is pretty hard to do, with the current senate and government having to approve it, retire, reelection, senate reapproval, and finally a public vote with at least 40% participation).

And that is not even enough. Greenland itself would have to agree to it as well, as they are a sovereign region. Neither Denmark nor Greenland have expressed any interest in such a deal.

The fact that the bill proposes to rename Greenland regardless of being acquired by the U.S. is a clear sign that it is not a serious bill.

Acquiring Greenland by other means (e.g. by force) would also be in direct conflict with UN and NATO agreements between the two nations, and cause a serious problem for the new administration.

Too bad healthcare in USA is so expensive, I suspects quick CT scan could find this person has a crayon lodged in the frontal cortex from their childhood body exploration. Or recent body exploration… Who know what kind of wacko, americans will elect nowadays.
