You can right now if you use WINE instead of proton. Just unset the DISPLAY variable with “DISPLAY=”
What does this mean for end users? Perf gains? I cant really tell that my game is being scoped rn…
I don’t think it should have a significant effect on performance. On the other hand gamescope is broken on my system right now. There are probably plus and minuses of both.
Next Proton if they enable full Wayland support
they stripped it out for proton 9, I hope they leave it in this time
Upstream WINE enabled it by default in version 10, so I can’t imagine Valve wanting to strip that out. Knowing Valve, they probably helped out a decent amount with that support.
The Wayland driver wasn’t considered stable in version 9.
