I made a post here a few days ago complaining about content all being elsewhere, which was nice to vent, but doesn’t really help the situation. Now I’ve decided to be the change.

Let’s actually talk a little. What games do you all play? Tell me what you like about them!

Personally I’ve always been big into Street Fighter. I enjoy almost any fighting game, but the SF series is the one that I have by far put the most time into. I’m having a blast with SF6, even if I am just a diamond rated scrub. :D

I got into Skullgirls because it was the first even halfway-decent fighting game with a native Linux port. Still playing it nearly a decade later because it’s that damn good.

I also love Them’s Fightin’ Herds for being the next game to get a port. But with the current state of the game I haven’t been grinding as much lately since I can’t always hop on and get matches very easily… It’s always gonna hold a special place in my heart and I will keep entering majors whenever it’s there, but I’ve accepted its fate…

I’ve also been hooked on UNI2 as of late. I bought the Switch version since I have neither Windows nor PS4, but we’ve got an active Discord and biweekly bracket at least. I only know about half the matchups in the game though, so I’m at risk of getting caught out at majors.

I love love love tekken and other 3d fighters. I mostly stay away from 2d fighters outside of skull girls and smash (yeah, I’m calling it a fighting game, pick up the sticks)

I’ve dabbled with Tekken but it never really hooked me. Always have a blast playing SoulCalibur though!

So long as I can side step attacks, I’m happy. Soul Caliber is a classic but its newer iterations lost me. So for now it’s memories of SC2 that shine the brightest, slowly going down hill ever since

Not really FGC, but adjacent - I’ve mainly played Melee. Grew up with it as a kid and eventually attended locals for many years. Has great feeling to how characters control and the way combat flows.

I’ve never really pushed through to really learn a traditional fighter - but there’s so many cool ones I want to love. Soul Calibur and Gran Blue VS do a nice job of being approachable, while the SFIII/MvC2/CvS2 Capcom era just oozes style. And KoF in particular feels nice coming from Smash, having rolls and short hops.

I’ve always played fighting games casually with friends and cousins (sf2, mvc2, smash, samurai showdown, sf4) and have watched a fair bit of tournament play without fully understanding the games.

I got into sf6 last year and have really been trying to learn the game "correctly’'. I haven’t made the push to master and am still bad at the game, but I’m having a lot of fun.

I found a weekly local tournament near me and I’m planning to go sometime soon! I’m obviously gonna get my ass handed to me, but looking forward to it.

      Very similar to me!

I was casually into SFV, made it to gold in ranked with Zeku, but never really took it seriously. Played lots of very casual 2/alpha/MvC for many years.

Have put some actual time into SF6 and am climbing through diamond now, and have made appearances at a couple of locals where I did terribly, but it was a lot of fun.

I feel like Master is attainable, and I hope to reach it before phase 7 ends.

Made it to master today! Hope your push has been going well too. Add me (same username) if you’d like to run some sets!

Was diamond 1 when I made this original post, currently diamond 2. Progress has slowed somewhat, but I know the areas I need to work on to tighten things up.

Been tracking my progress in a spreadsheet.

One moment that sucked was quitting mid-match to answer a knock at the front door and ate a >100LP disconnect penalty for it. In hindsight I should’ve just AFK’d and let the guy take my 40 instead. It was a goddamn door-to-door ISP sales agent.

I’ll add you next time I’m on and maybe I’ll see you around. I’m in a bit of a weird timezone though.

edit: I can’t find you on the buckler site by any of “aight_passing”, “aight passing”, or “kajib”. What’s your CFN ID?

edit the second: Found you with a hyphen.

Battle Craze! It feels closest to a 2d anime fighter I guess, but borrows heavily from like nearly every genre. I like how fast paced it is, and the massive amount of options in terms of playstyle. Also the quirky and unique character designs.
