Air raid sirens have an important job to do, and have been a critical piece of public safety infrastructure in times of geopolitical turmoil. They sound quite unlike anything else, by virtue of their mechanical method of generating an extremely loud sound output. They’re actually remarkably simple to build yourself, as [MarkMakies] demonstrates.
you wanna trigger someone’s PTSD? play with these in civilian places
Attach it to a drone.
Print a lot of them and attach them to a flock of geese.
Honk honk, mothertrucker!
I live in the Midwest. We have these all over as a weather alerting system. They test them monthly at a fixed time, but I could see this triggering someone - especially if they didn’t know it was coming.
Ahhww, finally a candidate sound generator for my earPod buster bike horn. Nice!
Don’t you need a diesel engine to run these things?
To spin the rotor, Mark used a powerful brushless motor controlled by a common hobby speed controller
I don’t know. The article might contain information like that.
Yeah but why would you want to use a tiny brushless motor when you can use a hemi V8 diesel?
So what you’re saying is that this would make the perfect car horn
