this, except it’s just an upsetting reminder that the task I’m putting off is not even that hard, yet I’m still not doing it.

Have you ever been tested for ADHD? I don’t want to go around diagnosing people but this kind of executive dysfunction is central to it

Do you sometimes agonize on and off for hours over a task that could be done in 30 minutes?

        never been diagnosed.

agnizing over tasks happens often, and at the same time I’m not actually bringing any pleasure to myself by avoiding it.

I was diagnosed at 44. Meds have changed my life. Also I’m glad that I am not actually a horrible failure of a human, as I was led to believe my entire life.

I was diagnosed last year. I’m 41. I wondered what the hell was “wrong with me” my entire life. Meds help but this shit sucks.

So true - I have a huge overwhelming cleanup job and finally broke it down to …. How about just collect obsolete electronics like cordless phones in a box for recycling? That’s it. Quick and easy. But I’m successfully ignoring it

Then vacuum the floor full of smaller tasks. No more tasks and the floor is vacuumed.
