Aurora Store is way too unreliable and is nearly unusable. I have been using APKMirror so far and while it is okay, it is somewhat annoying that Obtainium can not directly download from there whereas it can with APKPure. I wanted to know the security level of APKPure in comparison to APKMirror.

I’ve never had issues with APKPure as far as safety goes. That and APKMirror are my main places to get apk files

I had to just make a new burner google account for Aurora. The rate limiting on the anonymous account seems to always be hit when I try to use it.

One trick is to have anold android phone. I created a couple of accounts last year without giving any personal data by using a device with android kitkat.

I think Android Studio still has images of Android 4 with Google Play. Potential avenue for people without old phones at hand?

APK Pure works well enough. Never run into scams etc so far, and it’s my main source for apps. I use that, and Mobilism for safety-checked mods.

Have you tried lately? I do specifically remember them requiring it however the most recent one I made did not ask and it gave me a somewhat randomly generated email address. No recovery email or anything like that either could be a requirement if you’re on TOR or something though still maybe difficult to say when they require it

Never heard anything bad about it so should be safe although I prefer to uso apk mirror because of its reputation

BTW, if using only apkmirror and apkpure as sources for apks, I’d recommend apkgrabber instead of their own binary apps

    NO.

they plant ads in their apks. Dont use it for network enabled apps (if you have a safe firewall or network permission)

If you can’t get a packaged apk directly from the developer/publisher, or from a trusted repository like the play store or fdroid, I wouldn’t resort to third party sources like these. If you can’t compare the signing signature of an apk from an untrusted source to that from a trusted source, you can’t be certain that what you’re installing hasn’t been tampered with.
